External Wall Cracking How to Check

I am in the process of a property and wanted to get some information relating to how to check if a wall crack is a serious structural issue or a general plaster/render cracking.

 

I do plan to get a home survey report, but not sure if they will actually have enough information to get a real idea about any potential issue.

 

I wonder if anyone with enough experience can tell by looking at this picture if this crack is anything structural or a general plaster/render crack that could be filled ?

For information this crack only appears externally and not internally.

 

I would greatly appreciate any feedback.
