Hi

Looking for a low cost battery option for our 2.5kw system.  We will need a 2.4 to 4.8mkw battery  to get by and not feed back to the grid. Currently have 2 × 1200 sunnyboy inverters. Any help appreciated With what we need to buy.

Right.

Sorry to be finickity, units first.

I think what you have is a 2.5 kWp PV system and you think you need a 4.8 kWh battery system.

Do you currently have a hot water cylinder with an electrical immersion heater in it?

If you do, diverting the PV power to that will be the easiest and cheapest way to store your energy.

With a small system like yours, it should be possible to self use near enough all your power, have you monitored your energy usage to see what you actually use, and what is using it?

Battery systems are all the rage, but remember that the most expensive, bought in electricity, is probably cheaper than current battery systems.

No hot water tank currently, combi only . was considering the diverter to hot water tank. So this would be my best bet?
