quick Hi and some advice on Electric Change from 1 Phase to 3 Phase

Hi All self builders and developers,

I am a property developer and need to change the connection in one of my property from 1 phase into 3 phase.

I got a quote from UKPN with 3 options A - they do all, B-they do some and C- they do only the non-contestable works.

At the field their engineer warmly suggested that it would be much cheaper to do the works with what they call ICP (Independent Connection Providers). 

 

Did anyone in this forum did something like this and can help me at to my next steps (as I have never did this before and don't know how to take it forward)?

Lots of things to consider,

1) Is everything on your land ? 

2) What is the interface between the Contestable and Non Contestable ? do they have to be done at the same time/within.

3) Cost for any traffic management ?

4) new build connection ? VAT free ?

 

Our contestable element was £20k [100m trench up a road, ducting back fill and cable pulling, TM road closure] and was too small job for the Independent Connection Providers to be bothered with.  So we just went with the DNO for both contestable and non-contestable.
