Salus Auto balance flow rates

Hi

Recently had ufh in a new extention installed and getting it setup for the first time.

I fitted Salus Auto balancing actuators from the word go as it sounded like it would take some guess work out of everything and be more economical based on the marketing hype.

They appear to be working correctly however not performing as expected.

I know my loop lengths and based on the calculations my flow rates would of been set to 2.1 / 2.3L if I had normal actuators fitted.

With the Salus AB they settle at around  3.6 to 4L which seems very high compared to what standard calculation would have them set at.

I have measured the flow temps using a infrared heat gun and my flow is around 37 degrees and return 33 deg which seems a high return. If the flow reduced (to say 2.5 ish) I would guess I'd be closer to the target 7deg detla)

My boiler is also seems to be cycling alot which is another issue I need to look at but I don't think the higher return flow temp is helping with that.

Any ideas?

Thanks JohnMo

I will give that a go. I have noticed when the heating clicks on they appear to go into calibration mode sometimes (fast flashing light for a minute or 2) before going to a slower flashing light which means they are adjusting and then settling to a solid light.

I am not sure why they would be going into calibration mode so often. And maybe if the loop is already warm or the heat request turns off to soon this is why they are not calibrating correctly.
