JamSte
Hi We have had plans approved for our extension and am starting to think about how we could possibly still live in the house whilst works progress. we are having a side and rear wrap around extension. And then knocking through to create a large open plan kitchen lounge at the rear. the existing floor in the house is wooden in the dining room and concrete slab in the kitchen. we want to have concrete floor throughout so that there are no issues in tiling and also so that we can insulate better. the question is around laying the concrete slab and subsequently the screed over the insulation. are we ok to have the concrete slab laid for the extension as the ground works are done, then at a later stage ripping up the floor in the existing house and pouring the slab to these rooms. Then once done having the screed laid over all the areas in one go? Or does the concrete slab and dpm need to be through all of the rooms in one go? thanks in advance James
markc
Yes lay the slab in the extension first, tell the ground worker the plan so shear connectors can be included in the slab ready for next pour. When it comes to the screed do all the lot in one go.
