Spreadsheetman
Guidance is clear for Dormers, but not for skeilings. (The sloping ceiling that follows the roof line in a room-in-roof etc.) Context is renovating thermal elements ref table 4.3. I couldn’t find any mention either way. I did find a government document “Retrofit Room In Roof Insulation: Guide to best practice” dated Jan22 that refers to skeilings as part of the ceiling, but this is not the official building regs. Redbeard
Until the latest revision it was very clear. The roof U value target was split into 'at rafter level' and on top of first floor ceilings (cannot remember the exact wording for the latter). At rafter level it was 0.18 and 'on the flat' 0.16. Now there is no distinction made so one has to assume that the target for both is 0.16. The fact that a ceiling at rafter level (a skeiling) is a ceiling has not, in my view, changed. DevilDamo
A skeiling by definition is the straight sloped part of a ceiling and so it would be tested as a ceiling and therefore part of the roof element.
