Searching for like-minded future self builders for plot share group - Norfolk

Hi

Having spent the last 2 years looking for single building plots or existing redevelopment opportunities without any luck, we would like to look at the option of joining a group to open up to bigger plots within the South Norfolk area ( anywhere from Wymondham down to Thetford area).

 

We would like to find like-minded self builders looking to build their sustainable family home in a rural area in the beautiful Norfolk countryside.

Awesome hi Rob! It’s not the easiest time with the nutrient neutrality issue, all the best with that and happy to assist with any questions too, I’m in that area but I’m not a self builder.
 

I’ve helped people with custom builds and self build sites so I think you are on the right track. Do you have a plot in mind, are you looking for maybe a farmer or someone with a field for a few plots? What’s your plan.

Thanks Charlie, yes I think its not the best time and very little is becoming available but I'm determined to find a plot after originally having a plot a couple of years ago which fell through before purchase.

I think ideally it would be great to group together with 2 or 3 other people and go for a plot. I have seen a few plots with planning for 3 or 4 houses, something like this would work out to be reasonable price wise per plot and give around 1/3 acre per house. I am looking to approach some local farmers as a next step but need to have met some others who would be willing to group self-build.

Currently have all plans and designs for 4 bedroom home with budget worked out as our friend has an architectural design company and assisted us. Any advise or assistance would be much appreciated and thanks again for replying to the post.

That sounds like a good idea to widen your net. Might I recommend you look at your local plan, I think they will eventually have a list of sites that might be available (planningwise) for people such as yourself. I think the plans just went to the council a few weeks ago, so they probably haven’t even looked at them yet… but they should be here:

Thats great, thanks very much for this, I will keep an eye on it. Do you know of any other places to reach out to people who may be in a similar situation, looking to self build and could group together for a plot? This is the only site I have managed to find with an active forum. Thanks

I don’t know of any more forums, maybe attend trade shows and ‘Finding A Plot’ seminars? I know there’s some of those near Cambridge sometimes. 
 

you can register your interest in self build plots at some custom build websites. You usually have to follow a plot passport for those rather than find your own site and neighbours
