RichS
So, which is the better for foundations. It seems that Kore uses EPS while IsoLohr use XPS. Kore claim that their product is "unaffected by water". Is this a bit of creative terminology . The product itself may be unaffected but I've just watched a couple of Youtube clips and it seems that EPS allows fluids to permeate through while XPS doesn't. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?? Jeremy Harris
Both are OK; EPS has been used for several decades underground and as foundations for things like railway lines crossing bogs, so has a longer track record of use under these conditions, but that's largely down to it being a material that's been around longer, I think. Both EPS and XPS can allow moisture to penetrate under some conditions, but not enough to degrade performance to any significant degree. It's really six of one and half a dozen of the other, in practical terms.
