What does this do?

HI, before Dimplex come and replace my Dimplex ASHP with a Samsung one, I want to get a better understanding of the parts inside the house and what might and might not be needed. Would anyone be kind enough to tell me what they are?



This pump is inside, does this just fire up when needed to pump water round the system? Because of the faulty Dimplex unit, it has run for hours on end at times (getting hot) when the system isn't even working. I have to reset the control panel to get it to turn off - I think it is when outside temp drops below 15 degrees the Dimplex CP fires it up. I have other Wilo pumps in there too, not sure if they are controlled by the Dimplex Unit or the UFH controller?

 

Buffer tank - is it simply a place to store additional hot water when needed? For the heating I believe and not the DHW.



Expansion vessel - wonder if this will be needed.

Finally the red one similar to the one above, where the pressure valve is.
