WhiteRabbit
Hi i am converting a property that was part residential part commercial into a single residential property and have a question about how building regs will apply. Currently between the residential half and the commercial half there is a corridor that doesn’t meet regs - 700mm wide - the corridor is half on one side and half on the other. will this pass muster when the renovation/conversion is done do you think? my thinking is that as it is an existing structure it would pass and particularly as it is that thin in the residential part that isn’t being converted. I’d appreciate any thoughts! Edited May 25, 2021 by WhiteRabbit Fat Thumbs
Mr Punter
Most of the regs have a section for conversion / change of use. Often it is do not make it worse. Mostly more lenient than new build. Best go for a full plans application, rather than a building notice.
