Nicky393
Hi I am nicky. My partner and I have been working on an end terrace property in South Wales. The property was empty for a few years and had some damp issues. We had a few people look at the issue but ended up with damp membrane to the internal walls of the gable end to the ground floor and replastering. My query now is regarding the render to the gable end. Looking at the house next door I believe it to be a stone wall with render to the top. Part of the render has blown and requires action. Reading around if we removed the render from the entire gable end we would need to insulate to comply with building regs. Just not sure if this would result in us having problems because of the internal membrane. The membrane is meant to provide an air gap and be breathable but not sure if we will create further issues by adding external wall insulation. As the render was existing when we purchased property just not sure on best next steps. Any advice appreciated. Thanks Nicky
