Brickstressed
Hi all, newbie here, so be gentle. I have been trying to match/identify the bricks used on the front elevation of my house (see pics) House is circa mid 1950's. Essex area. I've tried several brick matching websites without success, some do offer bricks but they are poor substitutes. when I purchased the house the previous owner had 2 doorways bricked up and the brick match is appalling to say the least. I've tried several local reclaim yards to no avail, the bricks have a manufacturers stamp of W.D.C and I believe they are soft reds and I am aware that they are no longer manufactured, that's as far as I have got! I need an exact match due to brick cracking around the front windows and will be very noticeable when replaced. My last resort will be to remove some bricks from elsewhere on the property to use, any help guidance would be greatly appreciated. edit: (brick size 9" x 4.5" x 2.5" approx.) PeterW
I would be finding the cause of the cracking first as that is through bricks not mortar joints. If you really can’t match the bricks you can get them tinted afterwards to match.
