New member - stairs and structural support

Hi All,

 

Like quite a few others who have recently joined I'm concentrating on increasing the amount of DIY jobs around the house and will be happy to offer and receive advice. 

 

My main task at the moment is to extend the space in the cupboard area under the stairs. One of the issues here is working out what parts under the stairs give structural support. The area underneath was converted into a small toilet for the previous occupant and I want to work out what I can safely remove without weakening the stairs.
