  1. I'm hoping someone can offer some advice please. The area under my stairs was converted into a toilet by the previous owner. The area behind the toilet was boarded up - I assume when the toilet was installed. I haven't removed the timber frame as a precaution but cannot see how it supports the stairs. Does anyone know whether it would be safe to remove the timber frame? Is it something that would have been installed when the house was built? Many thanks in advance.
  2. Hi All, Like quite a few others who have recently joined I'm concentrating on increasing the amount of DIY jobs around the house and will be happy to offer and receive advice. My main task at the moment is to extend the space in the cupboard area under the stairs. One of the issues here is working out what parts under the stairs give structural support. The area underneath was converted into a small toilet for the previous occupant and I want to work out what I can safely remove without weakening the stairs. I'll post more details in the relevant thread. Thanks
