We are gutting out our old kitchen to put a new one including all new oven hob, fridge freezer, dish washer, ext, ext..
The issue is our consumer unit is an old Wylex BS 5486 (no RCD's) and looks like the lighting circuit does not have earth, only live and neutral.
I am keen to upgrade the consumer unit, however not that keen to start a full rewiring project for the lighting circuit.
Is it possible for me to upgrade the consumer unit but keep the old lighting circuit on 6a MCB's in the new consumer unit ?
or
Keep the old lighting circuit on the old consumer unit and move the power circuits and all the new kitchen equipment onto a new consumer unit ?
In other words having 2 consumer units ?
What other options would I have, if I dont want to rewire the old lighting circuit ?
Much appreciated
