  1. Hi Guys, Trying to get my head around partition wall make up to pass Part E2 of the regs in England and Wales. I am looking to use 100mm Mineral Sound Insulation (10kg/m2density) between partition walls and floors. Will this work with single lining of standard 12.5mm plasterboard, or do I still need to double the plasterboard (standard) or use E10 Blue Sound Board to pass E2? Any help gladly received. Thanks Ben
  2. Cheers George.......just had a chat with a Geotech and he says its all possible. Many thanks
  3. Hi all, Currently have footings and out of ground foundations on site for a traditional block and brick house. (2012) I am looking to build a timber frame home on the site. Due to the restrictions on site (TPO's Sewerage) I am having to build in the same spot. My foot print will be slightly larger but will line up on 2 walls of the previous plot foundations. I be pecking up all but the footings of the previous plot and using that for hard core and gravel. My question is.......to extend these footings and attach what i will need for my larger footprint, what do i need to do to satisfy building control? Can I drill rebar into the existing footings, secure and then pour my extended footing with that interface between the 2? Please advise. Edit: Insulated raft is not an option. Removing original footings ins not an option.
  4. Hi Russel, Thanks for your reply. I have been reading a lot about the cold bridging issue causing moisture right at the base of the SIP on the sole plate....right where you don't want it!! So this sounds like a good solution. My only concern is whether I can fit this over the remnants of the the old footings without having a very high internal floor level as I want to go wet underfloor. I will look into this as an option, thanks.
  5. Hello hive mind! Looking for some friendly advice on a footing solution. I am a newbie so be gentle!! As it stands I have footings, block work up to damp course, and an insulated slab inside the block work, all for a previous build on the site that was never followed through. I know that for my SIPs construction method pretty much all of this other than the footings is basically useless. (Been sat 10 years with unknown level of insulation in the floor, and looking at the surveyors info it is not level enoughSo will be getting a crusher and pecking it all into hard core for my drive. my real question is…… can I use the current footings and extend them to fit the footprint of my new build? if so how is it done? Drill rebar into the old and set into the new? Rough up the edge with a pecker? What the protocol here and will it satisfy building control? Any help gladly received. Regards, Ben
