Yes i will call them first thing Monday. is there a set period of time a building control officer has to produce the completion certificate? How does the process work, do they provide the certificate or does the governing body provide it?

The building inspector keeps fobbing me off saying he will chase it up. Its been 6 weeks now since he verbally agreed everything was ok. Im actually wondering if ive been scammed somehow!

If you use a building control thats not associated with your local authority where can you find a copy of your completion certificate? Are the uploaded to a portal somewhere?

Long story short we had windows and doors fitted by the same firm. The bifolds dont open as smoothly as they should (very stiff), the company keeps breaking promises to come and fix them. I have paid 90% of the invoice on the understanding they return and fix but its looking unlikely they will do so. How should i proceed?

50mts ish. As far as i am aware the cable comes in the house and goes into a splitter. One cable then goes to router, the other to the tv box.

Aircon installer suggests i have a Diakin Stylish AC unit in each bedroom and says they are more efficient than traditional radiator central heating during the winter, with lower costs so dont require rads. I have alot of steel frame in the loft space and within stud walls. BCO suggested i plasterboard the entire first floor in pink plasterboard. I have asked him to email me the regulations on this but he has yet to do so. I have tried googling but cannot find a definitive answer. I did read that standard pb gave 30mins that was adequate, however this was 2 years ago. Anyone able to confirm either way?

We are putting 22mm chipboard floor board on the first floor. In the bathrooms there will be UFH that sits between the joists on alu trays. The UFH company says put 18mm ply down on top. The tiler says either 18mm ply or 22mm chipboard + ditra + tiles, and the carpenter says you can do either but the 22mm chipboard will give no flex and the ply may do. The finished bathroom floors will have tiles and ditra mat then run into carpet at the thresholds. Obviously i would like the transition to be as level as possible between rooms. Is there a preferred option? The plumber mentioned that the underfloor heating having to work through 18mm ply or 22mm chipboard doesn't seem optimal! Is there a thinner cement board that can used on the floor? Can you get shower trays to sit on the joists rather than the sub floor so they can be flush with the tiles?

A question about wrapping of the permeable geo membrane. Is the idea that this is wrapped around perfectly to really contain most of the water or is its purpose to keep soil from getting in? stuggling to see how i can wrap the crates perfectly enough to create a semi water tight void.

Just to be more clear. The crates will be wrapped in geo membrane. I have some crushed hardcore. Its probably bigger than Type1, 60mm-30mm. Would this be ok to put down the sides? The bottom will have sand/sharp sand.

When installing soakaway crates can you use MOT Type1 as backfill around and on top or does it have to be pea gravel? Thanks

Would a liquid DPM be better than a sheet on the existing slab? The existing slab is uneven in places, i assume you can put a layer of sand/cement under the insulation so create a flat surface and compact it, just as you would on an oversight?

Question on the build up on top of an existing slab. I was thinking of the following construction: Existing Slab DMP sheet PIR Insulation 100mm DMP sheet UFH Liquid screed Any opinion appreciated.

Part of my build will have natural stone split face cladding on one of the gables. Elsewhere will be rendered. Can anyone recommend a company to supply these sections So far i have found Zclad & Zstone. Both appear to sell similar systems. Has anyone used either supplier and can give a review?

Yes i am referring to the new rules as if 1st April i did read the link you provided but struggled with it tbh. So you are saying if i purchase my insulation from a retailer i should only pay 5% VAT? My local Jewsons and Travis perkins want to charge 20%. Makes a big difference to me since not VAT registered. Spoke to my local supplier and they had no idea about this, same for one a large online insulation retailer. However another company was happy to send me a proforma with zero VAT. Can anyone clarify, if i go into a builders merchant and purchase insulation what rate of VAT should i be charged, if any? Tried to find a straight answer on the HMRC website but struggled.

How long ago was this? im very suprised people here didn’t receive a bill, why would they repair for free…
