  1. Hi All, I'm having to pour about 10-12 bags of self levelling compound single handed and i'm looking for some advice on two potential methods i'm thinking of. Firstly, good old fashioned mix a bucket and pour but i'm worried about timings. Secondly, mix all of the bags in an empty drum i have and then drill a 1" hole in the bottom and let it flow. Not sure if this a crazy or if it would work Its Mapei 3240 if that makes any difference and floor area is about 30 sq metres Thanks for any help
  2. I put the stud frame up and left it to my old man to ply the outside while I was at work. Come home and it’s about an inch and a half out over the 7.5’ height. Blue arrow in photo is direction of leaning towards my neighbours fence
  3. Hi All, I’m building a garden room but it appear one of my timber panels has decided it wants to be a parallelogram instead of a rectangle. I’m sure it was plumb when stood up but never mind. The frame is already boarded with ply and I’m hoping there’s an easy solution to bring it back square other than tear it down. many help is greatly appreciated as the wife is about to notice and the “told you so’s” are about to begin
  4. Thanks @Big Jimbo. I've been in the house for 15 years and its always been that level so i'm hoping that any potential planning officers (if they ever turn up) will agree with you!
  5. Hi All, Finally getting ready to go vertical with a garden room but could really do with some help on my height measurements. Currently my whole garden is raised 20cm from the original base and has been for over 20 years. I come out of the house, step down, then step up to the turf (see drawing). My issue is, where do i take my 2.5m eaves height from? The current garden or old ground level? Thank you
  6. Thank You. All electrics are going to be done by qualified personnel, i won't touch them! I'm just hoping to eek out an extra 1m building width by building up to me existing garden wall (that borders the side with no dwelling) but i don't want the cost of Cladco etc to bring it up to fire resistant regs
  7. Yes, i'm hoping to squeeze an extra 1m width by building up to my existing garden wall on the side with no neighbours
  8. Hi All, Planning a garden room and I’m at a bit of a crossroads with regards to planning regs. I’m between 15-30m2 and planning to be more than 1m away from my boundaries. Question is I’m at the end of a street therefore my 3rd boundary borders a through road. Does this still fall within. The 1 m rule? thanks
  9. Hi All, First post of potentially many as I start making the kids a garden room! I have read and re read the technical guidance on the Gov.uk website regarding Permitted Development Rights but I am still uncertain regarding one thing which I'm hoping someone could help with please. Room will be within 0.5m on side and rear neighbour fences (3rd side is road). I have kept the room under the 2.5m height rule and the area will be less then 30m2 so I'm fine there. Problem is I'm sure I have read somewhere that if the building is this close it need to be made from fire resistant materials but I find no mention of this in the documents on gov.uk Does anyone have any experiences that may help me Thanks David
