  1. If i can turn this weird right angled pipe upwards then it wont take up so much space if its closer to the wall, it sticks out further than the meter. I can try and turn it myself... probably a bad idea?
  2. another option would be if i could get a smaller meter fitted, im happy to pay for it! i assume they have smaller ones these days?
  3. Hi all, This gas meter is giving me a real headache Its on the far left and i need to move it to the far right side of this wall. The wall is an internal kitchen wall, backing on to our hallway. The wall on the right hand side below the boiler is the outside front external wall. I have been quoted £1070 by Cadent to move it to the right hand side, and 8 weeks to do it - ouch! All i want to do is put a fridge freezer where the meter is currently... Obviously my question is... how can I move it quicker and cheaper
  4. Unsure why plaster is damp, dodgy tiling, dodgy plumbing and dodgy everything but im still uncovering things a I only got keys two weeks ago. Yes will replace the bath and everything else. There isnt any plasterboard, just plaster onto brick infill walls, 50's ground floor council flat Bit of a big job to take all the plaster back to the brick, would rather patch it in with something, can certainly take off the damp plaster or let it dry out. havent dealt with this issue before
  5. Hi all, First time doing this type of job: Took all the tiles off the wall, some of the plaster came with them as the wall plaster is damp. I was planning on putting some cement boards up (No More Ply, Aquapanel etc) but had a couple of questions: 1. Can I use 6mm on walls? I dont have the space to come too far out from the wall as the bath needs to stay where it is 2. How should i prepare the rough wall (above the tap end of the bath) its got big chunks out... plaster? mortar? leave it? i plan on adhesive and screw fix panels directly onto the surface and then til onto that. Thanks for any help!
  6. Not sure, its a ground floor flat with concrete floor and ceiling but I guess the pipe comes from somewhere! i wont be ripping the floor up though just trying to tidy that corner up cheers
  7. Hi Tony, its just bare metal from ground to ceiling as you can see in the pic, I dont see any lagging so should be ok. cheers
  8. Thanks Dave, yes I do plan on getting the meter moved, apparently it can be moved up to 90cm free of charge as long as its on the same wall, not sure about the gas pipe though
  9. Hi all, I'm working on a 60's council flat which has what I believe was a communal heating pipe but now the building has combi boilers (both mine and my neighbour above have combis) Mine is a ground floor. The location of the pipe is where I want to put a fridge freezer. The neighbour above does not have this pipe so it must have been removed at some point. Has anyone any experience removing these? Thanks
