  1. Thank you so much for the in depth advice, is there warm air heating systems that are efficient ?? Or am I still better off using underfloor heating ??
  2. Cheers guys I'm just wondering if there is a product on the market that I haven't heard of to be honest, I know the products I've researched you still have an element of celotex so was hoping I had missed something
  3. I'm a general builder that had to look up what mvhr was ?. im going to build a 3 bed detached house (3rd bedroom in the loft ) and was just going to have underfloor heating downstairs and rads upstairs , I contacted the plumbing merchants about getting a price for air source heating rather than a boiler and the manager said to me have you thought about mvhr !!!! I have no idea about it so would like advice from you guys regarding cost, effiency etc as I have no idea about it or am I better with an air source heat pump ?? thanks in advance
  4. Hi all. right so as I said in my introduction I have outline planning for a small 3 bed house in my garden which I will be doing mostly myself apart from electrics. my problem/question is can anyone recommend a foil insulation such as thinsulex which would negate the need for celotex/recticel/quintherm. the last 2 houses we have built I've spent so many hours putting the f*****g stuff in , normally 120mm in between rafters and 40mm over top, I know thinsulex is more expensive but the time saved in labour and preserving my lungs outweighs this!!!! my build is just going in for detail so need to meet with the architect regarding this but he is old school and will just go for celotex so any ideas would be grateful. bit of a ramble I know but just desperate to save myself hours of celotexing
  5. Thank you gents ask away I will ??
  6. Hi all, thought I'd give this a go although I'm not very clued up with this kind of thing. i run jobs for my father-in-law which ranges from new builds to renovations, I'm a qualified Chippy and plumber and can also do bricklaying and have a reasonable knowledge regarding other aspects. i bought a house which was built in 1909 which had a lovely size garden ( unlike new builds) , my plan after renovating the property was to put a nice size extension on the side but then realised I could actually get a detached house the same size as we have in the garden, I won't bore you with all the hassle I've had getting planning ( you couldn't write it ? ) but I've managed to get outline planning and just in the process of trying to finance it from somewhere . Im hoping this will then be the stepping stone for me to gain the confidence I need to take the leap and go out on my own, unfortunately im one of those that always has something come up that drains my savings to make the break on my own. ive a couple of questions but will obviously start a new forum chat for them, wish me luck ?? painy
