  1. Hello everyone I am currently looking into replacing the 15+ year old windows in my house. I live in a typical Victorian house. Not exactly the most efficient building out there. Anyway, I want to do this right. My concern is that I go to a local installer, they come round fit the window, shove some bog standard expanding foam round edges and finish it off with a bog standard sealant round the edges. We all high five each other and I’m left a few grand poorer and with a potentially sub-standard installation. I want to invest in good quality windows and I don’t want them to be let down by poor finishes. So, what is the best way to deal with finishing off around edge of the window/frame? I’ve read about airtight sealants and tapes added on top of a suitable high quality foam that fills the gap. Are these recommended/necessary? Do I need both sealant and tape? Also, what is the best way to ensure insulation around the internal reveals? Thanks for any help and guidance.
