  1. I was thinking about it but the windows are a little old and I have access to trade Aluminium windows which we have used in the extension etc.
  2. Thank you for the explanations/technical details RobLe and image from DJ, makes sense I'm happy to press on with simple replacements. The reason for the change Craig is the wife wants Anthracite but also I'm about to swap out the plastic conservatory in the images below for Oak with a tiled roof so now is the time to do the windows. 3. Hi, I'm about to replace the windows in the image with Aluminium and I'm not convinced they have been fitted correctly and tbh I'm not sure how to fit the new ones without them looking odd if I use a larger sill which is what I think is what is required. Advise and ideas welcomed. ATB Matthew.
  4. just found my solution I think https://ardex.co.uk/product/arditex-na/
  5. Hi People, I have a problem, long story short we laid a new concrete floor (a week ago) in the kitchen we are renovating (30m2)... all to building regs insulation membranes etc etc. Now the problem is I need to get the tiled floor down or my wife will have my guts for garters. So my solution is as follows. 1, Prepare concrete floor inc primer and pour self levelling compound MAPEI ULTIMATE LEVELLER 1210 SELF-LEVELLING FLOOR COMPOUND ( this is my area of concern as the floor will continue to shrink below) I'm aiming to only hit the low spots with this rather than a complete surface but not sure how doable this will be in practice. 2, Lay Ditra matting adhering to SLC with ARDEX AF 200 PLUS (I'm hoping this will allow the concrete floor to continue to dry out and the shrinkage will not affect the tiles) 3, Lay Ceramic tiles with flexible tile adhesive. Kwik Flex Grey Floor Tile Adhesive No underfloor heating as i'm too tight my wife says and I say that's why slippers were invented. Any other solutions greatly received.
  6. I'll be honest these are for a client so need to be guaranteed etc, if were for myself then that would be a good option.
  7. Hi people, hope you are all safe and well. I'm looking for a supplier of Iroko windows and doors for a project, I'm based in Wiltshire so I'd prefer to use a local company. All the best, Stay Safe. Matthew
  8. Unless you have good airflow do not use timber cladding, I would look at using box profile steel (cheap) or plastic cladding (expensive) and create a minimum 25mm external cavity. Keep the building under 30m2 internally otherwise building control will need to be dealt with.
  9. Hi People, As the title says lets have your ideas please. I have uploaded some plans of my property as I'm unsure where I can build either a single or two story extension. I'm unsure how to lay the house out as it's a family property but lacks a family bathroom and proper en-suites, bedroom one and two have these odd in room en-suites that I really do not like. We are a very social family with adult children and spend a lot of time in the kitchen so would like an open plan kitchen, dining room and seating area. The Annex is a converted milking parlour (not done very well) that was converted many years ago so could be knocked down. The conservatory to the front is white plastic again done may years ago, I'm thinking an oak framed sun room if I have any money left otherwise just get rid. This is not our forever home so I don't want to go mad but would like something a bit more modern. We own the land around us so no restrictions there. I've probably left out some important details so any questions please feel free to ask. TIA Floor Plan 01.pdf Site Location 02.pdf
  10. If I say it looks like a travellers site you should be able to guess which farm it is?
  11. The first project will be all timber single story accommodation for my daughters/Air bandb. I have some knowledge in this field but will need to do a fair amount of research for building regs etc.
  12. Not far from you I think by the look of your blog pics, I recognised the old town hall in the background of the pilling machine being delivered.
