  1. Hi there, I am new to the forum and looking for some advice on a single storey rear extension please. We live in a 1930s semi and all of the houses were built with a bit of a dog leg shape on the outside wall side, of 1750 wide x 1500 deep (circled in red in photo). The yellow is a lean to extension which the previous owners did. We would like to go out 4m from the green line (demolishing the red and yellow) but have been told by the architects that we have to do this with PP as it is a rear and side extension due to the dog leg. They said we will only get 3m through PP as our attached neighbour doesn’t have an extension, only the dog leg original part, and our council measure the 45deg rule from the near side of the nearest window and are very strict! Can anyone advise on any alternatives we could try to get a deeper extension please? Some houses in our planning area have done 4m but on the attached side have a 3m wall with a 1m sq cut out, so the 45deg rule is still observed. Would that be an option? We also have a line of conifer trees along our attached boundary, which must block light next door, would taking them down when we extend help our cause? many thanks for your help!
