  1. hmm interesting so just the outside in your case. im just looking to cut some costs as steel purlin are 30+ quid each and 2x6s are 10 quid so its no brainer really if i can use timber i will. i was looking to do corrugated sheet with some sort of mineral wool insulation like rockwool so in theory the timbers would be sandwiched between 2 fire rated materials
  2. hi all. lets say i was gonna build an outbuilding garage 30sm out of block. its within 1m of a boundary so needs to be fire proof essentially right? well im wondering if i can get away with using timbers for rafters rather than steel? tbh ive never seen anyone use steel box section or steel purlins so im wondering if i can just use timbers and only the walls need to be fireproof? also i will be using tin on the roof. the gov websites dont really give much info as what is and isnt allowed , and its not like anyones gonna grass anyway once its all boarded out inside but would rather be safe than sorry. thanks-Sam
