  1. Annoyingly no idea, it just came from the grab guys taking out the earth.
  2. Does anyone also know if you're better to roll a driveway so that it's the heaviest object that's ever going to go on there as opposed to a tiny whacker plate? Or does this not matter, Someone also recommended using a geotex membrane?
  3. Thanks everyone for their advice on this I'm scratching my head and pulling my hair out, to say Ive had enough would be an understatement so appreciate all the help!
  4. Yeah sorry the drive way on the side is relatively flat so they've put in an acco you can maybe see in the photo, on the front it all slopes into the road away from the house so no acco has been put in does this change anything?
  5. They've never worked with them and were saying when they drove off it after it has been whacked it showed movement I believe.
  6. Hi everyone, I am now on my second set of contractors for my drive as the first ones turned out to be clueless and I wasn't happy with the time it was taking or the advice. I'm doing 100 sqm of block paved driveway - new guys have come in done a few days setting out but are now saying they aren't happy laying on top of 150 mil recycled tarmac, this is all I could get hold of a couple months ago following how wet it had been and it was recommended so I went with it, after looking into it it doesn't seem the best sub base and I'm not sure you can use it, would I be better off getting a digger back in scraping it back and adding a 50 mil type 1 layer on top? As it stands at the minute it's 90 mil from the required level and it's been whacked, blocks are 60 mil so I guess they were going to do a sand screed of 30 mil, can anyone advise me what's best to do I don't want to spend all this money and the drive sinks in 6 months.
  7. Okay thanks - no not really it will still be a decent opening and a cheaper skylight so win win 🥇I guess?
  8. Nightmare! With it all being set would it make sense to pack out the internal to the next set size? I.e make it 2 by 1 m?
  9. Link for the skylight I’m looking at: https://panotrade.co.uk/product/toughened-laminated-triple-glazed-rooflight/
  10. Stupidly didn’t do the proper research and told my builder to set out my skylight opening at 2.3 m by 1.3 m, standard size is 2.5 m by 1.5 m for the internal opening, Can I get away with this? Or get my carpenter back to alter the internals? The difference in price between the two sizes with the size I have being custom is over £700 so not really worth it. As the carpenter assumed I was having a lantern there is no fall currently so I have some furring strips to add and then need to osb and get the flat roofer back to finish off sealing the roof anyway, any advice on this would be appreciated. It appears that most suppliers offer an internal frame for the fitter to fix too I didn’t know if this would change anything.
