  1. Got a 1990s timber framed house with cavity walls. Finding it hard to find info on where the vapour control barrier goes or if its actually needed (taping 20mm layer over the top of the timber frame). Or if I should use foil backed plasterboard. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. My setup will be from the inside = Plasterboard → Service Void using 40mm x 20mm battens → 20mm PIR on the face of the timber → 80mm PIR in-between the timber studs → OSB → Membrane → Cavity Thanks S
  2. My house is a timber framed with cavity wall insulation. Iv recently renewed all my windows and doors for new pvc double glazing. I do have an infrared thermal imager that I will have a look in the winter with for draughts. Im not sure how effective the insulation is under the floor due to it just being netting.
  3. Hello Folks, Going to be doing up my living room(4.16m x 6.02m), dining room(3.42m x 2.41m) and kitchen(5.99m x 3.38m) and do you think it is worth while taking up floor boards, removing plasterboard in ceiling and from external walls ( about 25m in total) and putting in PIR insulation? Currently there is 100mm glass wool in the walls and under floor(held up with wire netting) and zero insulation between the ground floor and first floor. The house is about 30yo. The floor joists are 90mm in depth. This would be the best time to do it before doing the place up. Thanks S
