  1. My house has a dormer conversion done ~40 years ago (I haven't dug out the original pp application to find the exact date). As a result it has very poor insulation. I'd like to improve the insulation, which I think should be as straightforward as stripping the plasterboard and relining with PIR. My question is: if I do this, will that require building control approval? Will this change likely require me to bring other aspects of the conversion up to current building regs? (eg fire door, protected escape) thanks! M
  2. Thank you Conor, very helpful - yes, diamond core drill.
  3. Hi, I am looking at fitting a through-the-wall aircon unit to a domestic property. The unit wants two 162mm diameter holes spaced 293mm apart horizontally (centre-to-centre, ie leaving 131mm of brickwork between them). I will need to drill these into a structural solid brick wall. The brickwork is in reasonable condition. I'm unsure of the thickness of the wall, I guess it's double brick. The holes will be on the ground floor of a two storey house. My questions are: * Will it be safe to drill these holes without placing any lintel support above them? * How far from the edge of the wall (corner of house) should these be? thank you! M
  4. @Beelbeebub did you install any of these in the end? If so, how did they work out for you? I'm considering similar.
  5. Hi all, I'm considering monoblock A2A aircon units for heating a domestic property. Does anyone have any experiences with such a setup? I'm specifically looking at the Powrmatic Vision range of devices: https://www.powrmatic.co.uk/products/category/air-conditioning/ Cheers!
