  1. Image of failed edge where I have hammered off some of the concrete and bits of rubber type mastic.
  2. Equestrian barn damp floor inside. I have just started to tackle the sloping edge on the outside. On the outside, there is a failed concrete edge between the ground and the concrete block wall. I have chipped away lose concrete and bits of rubber filler. I am about to apply new sand and cement mortar. Thought I'd check if this is the correct approach or should I use a rubber filler? Or is the concrete edge making things worse and should be removed, which would be difficult because it is solid. When it rains it is like a rainfall running past because it runs off the track and straight down past the barn.
  3. Thanks T B C. but I have already read several articles. My quip was regarding to the vagueness of article 4 as you will see in my initial post. The article which pertains to my area just states "poultry production." Poultry production? Does this mean I can or can't keep ducks and chickens? Just pointing out the inane government/council directives. Fed up with trying to decipher rules and regulations.
  4. Trying to fill in online form to see if my loft conversion project comes under permitted development and stuck already on first page. "This property is an article 4 direction area." I click the details. "Whole district excluding the town of Chesham - poultry production." Does this mean, unlike the MP for Gosport, I cannot build a duck house?
  5. Thank you. I will research further. My reason for the question is, I had a buildings designer look at the loft and he seemed knowledgeable and helpful and did not charge for the visit, and gave me a reasonable quote for his services. I would like to hire him, but I asked for a rough cost of build, and said not worth having plans if I cannot afford it. Planner said £5k to £15k for the build but upon Google research I see figures of £30k upward. I will ask for some quotes from builders. Thanks.
  6. I have a loft conversion. It has very little standing room. The house is a semi. I want to square off one one side of the roof and fit a dormer. Before I go any further, what is the minimum this will cost. Thank you.
  7. I have just tried to cut through lead with Stanley knife but having trouble. Blade just seems to score it but does not cut it. Also difficult holding straight edge steady while cutting. I will have another go tomorrow. Thanks
  8. Thanks, I'll give it a try first. It has been put up badly and one end is lower than the other. I will try cutting it level too. I have patination oil. Just need to buy a green scouring pad.
  9. The old lead flashing under my dormer windows works fine but does not look good. The lead runs under the dormer window and then disappears under roof tiles at either end. Will it be okay to lay new lead over the top of the old lead to make it look better? Thank you
