  1. Hi All, I am renovating my bungalow and currently working on the kitchen. I have had the dividing brick wall knocked down that existed between what was the dining room and the kitchen to create an open plan kitchen diner. The bungalow has concrete/solid floors and where the dividing wall was is now a small trench in the concrete floor and also the edges where the skirting board use to be is a gap. The edges are a bit crumbly. I have attached some photos to try and illustrate what I mean. I will soon be laying laminate flooring before the kitchen is fitted and I want to make sure the flooring is sound. I originally thought in my limited experience that you could just pour self levelling compound on the floor and it would just fill in any gaps in the concrete floor and create a level surface on which to lay the laminate flooring and its underlay, but I am sure that it is probably not that easy. I am assuming that if I did that, that the self levelling compound might not adhere to the concrete base well in the ditches and gaps and chip off over time? Do I need to fill in or repair the holes/ditches in the flooring with cement or the such and then prime that surface and then self level? Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated as my own research has thrown up conflicting ideas and opinions. Kind regards in advance. BrennaBoy.
