Ahhh thanks. That's a fair shout. What company makes the best ufh? Nuheat seem pricey compared to Wunda. Unsure of others
-
Thanks though wet ufh is typically cheaper to run which is why I might do for that instead What system did you get for wet ufh?
-
Retrofit Heat source is curently gas but will be a heat pump Not sure about the others though
-
So far I've seen Nuheat and the Wunda stuff I'm not however sure which would be the best, most responsive UFH system? Are newer UFHs a lot more responsive than older ones perhaps too ie: like a radiator ? Or do they still have slow response times? Thanks

Fischer Aquaefficient heat battery vs cylinder
anonymous replied to anonymous's topic in Other Heating Systems
Yeah. I'm not keen on SA for that reason. I thought they had a similar heat battery, not a carbon copy with their name slapped on. That doesn't inspire confidence. The warranty does but SA as a brand isn't amazing for reliability as you say -
Fischer Aquaefficient heat battery vs cylinder
anonymous replied to anonymous's topic in Other Heating Systems
Didn't realise it's sunamp underneath. I'm not too keen on SA -
Why would you need to run it hot?
-
I've seen this https://fischerfutureheat.com/product/aquafficient/ Unlike sunamp, it looks like they're backed by a 10 year warranty. They're rated for 40,000 cycles too Would there be any real disadvantages if you have this instead of a hot water cylinder? The advantage ofc is space saving which is decent for smaller houses

What to get in terms of WWHRS?

Thanks. May I ask why you went for Recoup instead of Zypho too? -
What to get in terms of WWHRS?

My shower is merely connected just above the bath tub fwiw Will one column unit be able to help support four showers? I thought they have to have a system A / B thing? -
I've seen that City plumbing sell a couple of different vendors products https://www.cityplumbing.co.uk/c/product/energy-efficiency/waste-water-heat-recovery/c/1829000/ I have two bathrooms One has a bath, and a shower on top of it One is an en suite that only has a shower tray What waste water heat recovery system works best for both these? Can I mix and match vendors? Would it be worth mixing and matching too? It I want more en suites in the future, is one brand better than the other?

Best dmvhr?
anonymous replied to anonymous's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
Yeah that's what I was wondering ie: if they're truly that much better. Like getting a Miele appliance when a Bosch is *almost* as good but costs a lot less -
Best dmvhr?

Are they significantly better than the competition? They do cost a lot more than the others -
Best dmvhr?
anonymous replied to anonymous's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
They sell a few though that do that? https://www.bpcventilation.com/heat-recovery/heat-recovery-fans -
I'm considering replacing my extractor fans in the bathroom, in favour of dmvhrs. Does anyone know what the best one is? Thanks

Best dmvhr?

Thanks. May I ask what you might suggest for a dMVHR? -
So the ultimate plan is to get a proper MVHR however I did wonder if it'd be worth replacing extractor fans in the bathrooms in favour of a decentralised MVHR thingy. Has anyone got experience with using a dmvhr for such a thing? What's the best one? Would it still work even when I get a proper MVHR or would they potentially fight with each other?

I've certainly seen those, and the ROI isn't as big an issue as it does simply using less heat Equally, one thing I'll do at the very end of all my refurbishments is to have a waste water recycling system given I don't need fresh drinking water for most of the things I use water for, and tbh, ditto for most people

I have this boiler: https://www.mrcentralheating.co.uk/vokera-easi-heat-i-29c-combi-boiler-only It's 93% efficient. I've also seen this: https://www.toolstation.com/vokera-fuelsaver-gas-heat-recovery-unit/p13232?utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&mkwid=_dm&pcrid=&pkw=&pmt=&gclid=Cj0KCQjwz8emBhDrARIsANNJjS7vYqZxRNxEqmDhWd952ps_Unl0AYZqsRdh4OWB7KH9S_URzioesVkaAiloEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Is it worth buying such a thing? Or are these heat recovery thingies basically redundant with newer boilers? I've never heard of them before but it appears that the technology is at least 10 years old, so I wonder if it's something that's "built in" these days Also fwiw, I wouldn't ordinarily have installed a Vokera but the people before me did, so now I'm effectively stuck with it for a while

Thanks. I take it that glycol is way less risky than anti freeze valves?
-
Heya So I imagine that glycol is less risky than antifreeze valves? Though it surely degrades over time What kind of maintenance would be required? I'm guessing that glycol isn't "set it and forget it", ditto for anti freeze valves?
-
I haven't but equally I intend on super insulating first + getting more windows + an MVHR So I figure that my heat loss calculations won't be accurate when I get to changing the radiators / piping
-
Hey So I've been advised that I should buy Jaga Strada "or similar" for my retrofit eco house. I suspect that the Jaga Strada stuff is expensive. What's a decent alternative? Also, realistically I also need to upgrade my piping from microbore but that's a different story

High quality Triple glazed windows - North West
anonymous replied to anonymous's topic in Windows & Glazing
Thanks. I'm within that "area" I'm in Tameside in particular -
Hi So I'm looking to upgrade my windows for high quality triple glazed timber frame windows It'd be cool to be able to being the windows out at an angle, like this person has done in order to maximise solar gain. https://youtube.com/watch?v=s5y6xp-HGMc&t=22s The "greenbuildingstore" sells high quality triple glazed timber frame windows with low U values but I've got a feeling they'll be pricey given they're a national company Can anyone recommend a company that can source + install those kinds of windows, and install them at an angle too like the person in that video?
