  1. Hi, I'm trying to spec some automated blinds to hook up to a Rako system, however we've only got twin core and earth to the location. I'm looking at the Sonesse 30 DCT and hoping that the WM-CUB will power this, but on the wiring diagram the WM-CUB seems to want to just supply 24V and switch the polarity. Anyone integrated Somfy and Rako before? Thanks
  2. What is the requirement for ventilated fire stops then? I don't understand this requirement. Is it something to do specifically with the manufacturer of the twinwall?
  3. How can I avoid creating a draft from the cold roof when using a twinwall flue and ventilated fire stops? Also, struggling to maintain part L airtightness. Grateful for thoughts.
  4. If anyone has any spare boxes of this, please let me know. Thanks!
  5. We really like the look of porcelain tiles for patio, looking at some from Stone Superstore for around £25/sqm which looks very reasonable. I've also read various discussions that go along the lines of porcelain being easier to clean because they are non-porous. Anything that I should be worried about going for these sort of tiles over, say, and Indian Sandstone?
  6. Hi, New build with posi joists for first floor and wishing to put wet UFH on ground floor and first floor. What is the best solution - concerned about pre-cut boards snapping due to lack of material. Putting UFH under the chipboard seems like it'll just be heating the space rather than the upstairs - is the best solution to put regular chipboard and then pre-cut boards on top? Grateful for any experiences good/bad here. Many thanks
  7. Thanks for the advice. To summarise if I may: Radial ducting should avoid most of the noise and potential for cross-talk £7k for installation is far too high Put flow adjusters by the manifold. I guess a couple of specific questions: I know the Brink gets rave reviews here, anyone with any experience +ve or -ve of the Zehnder or VentAxia? With radial do you still need silencers on each run? Any downsides or bear traps I need to be aware of? Thanks again!
  8. Hi, My architect has specified an MVHR for our new build property and sold us on the benefits of airtightness and controlled air quality improvements. The property is 5 bedroom and just under 300m2 over two stories. We've had quotes ranging between £7000 and £21,000 for a variety of units including: Zehnder ComfoAir Q450 Sentinel Kinetic Highflow Airflow Adroit Pichler LG350 Zehnder Comfosystem Q350 with various different options for ducting (radial, rigid, semi-rigid). Our absolutely top priority is that we don't want to hear the thing - at all. We are particularly sensitive to white noise, so it needs to be 100% quiet (or close to). We've also heard horror stories of the ducting being like a secret talk-to-talk system between rooms, which we also do not want. Some of the quotes have included up to £7000 for installation (excluding commissioning), whereas out builder feels like he could probably make a decent job if given a design and some instructions. I'd be grateful for any advice - how can we make sure that we get something that is both affordable and also that is going to perform (i.e. be silent)?
