Inside gas tray which is open for ventilation underneath

We dont have a chimney or flu so we only have an old decorative cast iron gas fire that is totally non-functioning and not connected to any services. I would like to add a Bio-Ethanol burner to the inside for a nicer effect and may even get some heat from it. I know i can buy a burner off ebay or from a specialist stove merchant. Can anyone advise what i would need to know about the conversion? Im looking at a totally manual burner, fill and light style box, and it can either just sit on the defunkt gas tray, or, i can take an angle grinder to it and sink the fuel box in. Im competent doing this. I just need to know the venting side of things and any dangers i need to consider. The current gas fire is completely open at the bottom, below the gas tray, and has some venting out the back. There is no flu opening on the top. The room is approx 20ft x 20ft square. Just stumbled upon these forums whilst looking to convert my old gas stove into a bio ethanol burner. Hoping to get MORE diy tips and advice.
