Hi guys, how realistic am I being trying to remotely manage a self build? I live about 2-3hrs away (m25 dependant) and went timber frame to simplify and speed up build to water tight. Currently about to pour concrete and frame arrives this time next month. Should I bite the bullet, buy a £1500 crap caravan and live on site or can I manage this remotely? For info, my current circumstances are renting (£1100/month plus bills), missus and dog, myself in full time employment which involves being away 3-4 times a month(long haul pilot) It’s all getting very real very quick and finding it quite a handful already! Need to get my windows ordered ASAP. Thanks for your thoughts!

Hi all, so far found this a useful resource so thought it's about time I posted! I'm building a 4 bed detached timber frame house with double detached garage in Bedfordshire. It was quite a struggle to get the planning in place and now I'm struggling to find people to do the work! I've a number had timber frame quotes and I think I'll be using Leicestershire based, MTE, but it's the ground works and connections I'm currently struggling with. A lot of the groundwork contractors in Bedfordshire appear very busy and also quite expensive. The connection side of things is apparently going to require road closure and diversion at fairly significant cost! Another issue I'm dealing with I the highways authority have decided that I can't discharge surface water into the ditch to the front of the site so I'm waiting to see what they have in mind.
