Peregrine Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Hi all, I need some advice please - My nextdoor neighbour had a loft extension done last year and removed the concrete cover off the base of the chimney. They replaced the front over lapping piece of lead flashing at the front and back on my side of the chimney, following the existing lead line to match , which was there previously as shown in the photo of the original chimney. The lead has apparently been chased Into the brickwork lead clipped and silicon before being re rendered. The neighbour's side of the chimney has had a wrap around cover put on. In Dec 24 the party wall surveyor said repositioning of the flashing between the two different roof tiles at the rear was needed to ensure that no damp occurs/water can blow up underneath the flashings. My neighbour has said the repositioning and redress has been done (?) on the day this picture was taken (Sep 25) but I would have thought that the flashing should go up the front of the chimney slightly unless it is supposed to go under the render (?) Would be good to get your thoughts on whether what has been done so far is functional, acceptable and will be adequate to prevent damp/water ingress or not and if not what is needed?? Some pics attached (I know some rendering is needed on my side). Thanks for any advice
