Gap between slates and fascia...to fill or not to fill

Just fitting fascia boards on my timber cladding...the boards are tight up against the slates but due to the how slates are fitted there is a gap above the fascia as you can hopefully see in the attached picture. Do I fill this or leave it open? If I do fill it, with what? Some black ct1?
