Re service cold main from stoptap in pavement to house

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if I have to have a new supply from stoptap in pavement as I might have a leak (the water board are going to check that, ) can the pipe work come through the garage floor then into the house (garage is attached to the house)

I don't know any reason why not if more convenient. It was like that in my parents' house.

Ring them, my local water co were very co-operative. When I wanted to have the lead supply pipe replaced, their inspector helpfully decided that it was "too difficult" to relocate my existing meter under the sink so they would "need" to install a new one under the pavement, at their expense. Also he did not enforce the requirement for the pipe on my side to be 800mm below the surface, though he said he would have if it had been a contractor and not a job I had been doing personally. As I already had an off-cut of MDPE pipe the total cost was a couple of fittings, plus £20 for the 2ft cold chisel to get through the foundations.
