82h
Hi 👋  I bought a new house that has an outbuilding. It has one layer of breeze blocks. I want to use it as a summer house. It’s a year or two away so I’m just seeking advice before getting builders in for quotes and more detailed advice etc.  Does it need to be insulated to use it as a summer house or office? If so, would it need to be knocked down and started again or could the average builder use what’s already there. It already has electrics wired in which is good.  the roof definitely needs changing, but again is this something that would require completely starting from scratch? Would an experienced builder recommend a new flat roof or a pitched roof?  Any other advice or suggestions that I should consider when we get around to it? What would you do with a project like this?  Thank you in advance. much appreciated
Redbeard
An external pic with context would be good - for my part so that I can see whether external wall insulation (EWI) might be an option. You say "the roof definitely needs changing, but again is this something that would require completely starting from scratch? Would an experienced builder recommend a new flat roof or a pitched roof?". Again, pics will help, and heights (from surrounding ground to current top of roof) so that we can look at it in relation to Permitted Development (Planning) rules.
