Donalo
Hi, in my new builds roof it has steel purlins with wall plate attached halfway up the 6m rafter span. They steel is bearing on the inner leaf of the gable. I understand the usual way of doing flush gables is having a rafter inside the outer leaf of the cavity to carry the laths and slates above. If the steel bears on the inner leaf, is it OK for this rafter to be supported at wall plate level at the Aves and Ridge board or how do you support it midspan if necessary?
