Replacement for Dentil Slips - Dry Ridge

Hi All,

I have a concrete pantile roof that is currently being re-roofed using the original tiles.  The ridge tiles were originally wet-fitted with dentil slips set in the cement bedding the ridge tiles.  Many dentil slips broke in the roof removal so the intention was to use a dry ridge kit to refit new ridge tiles.  Dentil slips no longer seem to be generally available and all the dry-ridge installation images do not use these anyway.

I have an issue though -  A dry ridge kit does not seem to provide the same level of protection against bird or insect ingress as did the original slip and mortar finish.  As shown in the diagram attached, large holes remain in the dips in the tiles which would allow entry into the space under the ridge tiles.

Can anybody provide any advice please?  Does this space need to be closed?  If so, what would be the best solution?

An update. 

 

There was no joy in finding a solution from the manufacturer of the dry ridge kit.  Dentil Slips seem also to be no longer generally available from some tile manufacturers.

 

As a solution, the intent is to use a layer of galvanized chicken wire over the top of the ridge battening and then folded back on itself each side to at least prevent ingress of larger vermin.
