Hi all; I've been looking at self build for years, basically since i was about 10. I've got a bookshelf full of house building books and many years of internet trawling. I've renovated a number of houses, but never done a build.

 

I finally found a potential plot - Class Q non-listed non-AONB - my plan is to replace it with something of same size and style but with modern build method (Mansell-case if that's the right name as i'm typing from memory). I'd like to add a basement. Planning is in by the vendor for a garage, not sure they will get it as there is a footpath through a field about 200m away and I see a lot of refusals in the area from the 'landscapes' consultee.

 

Power is on-site, drainage would be private but main sticking point seems to be water. I just posted in the estimating thread to try and figure out if this is the start of my journey or the end of it  

 

I'll likely take lots of pictures and blog it if i get it bought..
