magutosh
Hello everyone, I came across the forum when researching air source heat pump, only wish I found it sooner! We are at design stage of a 1920's bungalow remodelling, plan to turn it into a two storey house with open loft ceiling, add a rear extension as kitchen dining and social space. The first hurdle in front of us is the structure. Initially we thought about using SIP panels for the all the areas, to save time, achieve air tightness and energy efficiency, with potential higher cost. Having learned the design and manufacturing time frame would take 8 weeks, plus 2-3 weeks installation, we wonder if a more traditional brick, block work approach would be comparable, since the rear extension would only be 4 metres out? Is it better to build up the existing brick wall, fill the cavity before external clad / render, or add timber structure onto of existing wall and finish with SIP route? Has anyone walked down the same path before? Any experience you can share and advice to give? We have no experience with the build process, only the interiors, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Cheers Dominic
