I have permission to extend my current property to six times it's current size. I may go back in to planning to knock and build (smaller house)

I have a posh shed currently under construction. Can i live in this while i am either extending my house, or building a new one ? I will be the builder, and the eventual occupier, when the house is finished. Do i need to get planning permission.
