Evening all so I have planning permission to build a single story residential house on my land. However I have a disused railway tunnel underneath my land which is owned by highway England. The tunnel has been build on 1899 and is disused in 1956. Currently there are other house build above the tunnel with the nearest only 4 meters from mine. We have carried out ground investigation which shows approximately 6 meter of natural rock. Highway England want us to get some type of insurance during the construction phase to cover any collapse of tunnel. does anyone know more about this type of insurance cover and where I could get it. ??? help

Was it northern power grid who give you the quotation? Did it take long to negotiate with them? And how should I fight my corner? thanks

Appreciate everyone’s reply have I got the watts completely wrong? sorry I’m totally new to building a new build therefore as much advice provided would certainly help.

Dare I say it I can’t remember the kw however northern power grid spoke to me there the closest pole is 3 meter away from me is at the maximum. Hence next pole is 150m away with a eye watering cost of above £25,000. It’s only a 120sqm single story three bed with tufted roof.

It’s semi rural with 3 house 3 meter from my new build. no the pole is not on my land
