My LA have asked for one as I’ve applied for outline permission for a house in my garden and a pre planning enquiry indicated they were broadly favourable about the proposal. Whilst I question the value of it I suppose I’ll have to comply, anyone got an idea of cost ? and any recommendations, I’m in the North east but I guess geography may not be important if it’s a desk top study . I need the benefit of your experience please . I’m in the middle of building a 105sq metre extension and looking at UFH possibilities. I had to leave the job as my wife was ill and It looks like my mate may have dropped a clanger in construction of the slab . From the bottom up we have a min 150 mm compacted dolomite , visqueen then 120mm Celotex ,reinforcing mesh on that then 150 mm concrete. I have approx 70mm to FFL . My question is with what I have would an overlay system something like egg crates with say 40mm of liquid screed work , or should I have more insulation on top of the slab .? Or is there a better method / system , thanks in advance.

Hi I’m Chris a newby on here but not to self building , we built our house 10 years ago in Washington ( in the last street in Sunderland much to the amusement of my Newcastle Utd loving mates) Tyne and Wear. More recently we have been buying and selling and we’re currently on with our biggest development knocking 2 properties into one and a big extension they’ve been derelict for 12 years so it’s quite a task, been doing it part time for 2 years and starting to see the end of it though still lots to do . I’m not a tradesman a good DIY all rounder with 2 golden rules I never do electrics or gas , plumbing makes me nervous but I’m getting better at it, test well before you plaster !! starting a thread soon in UFH regards
