Only one stat calling for heat but all open!?!
ChristyJH replied to ChristyJH's topic in Underfloor Heating
I think that may have done it. Upstairs stat has been on for 10 mins and it’s the only one with flow rates. Great work. Thanks ProDave. -

Do you know what, that could be it as most felt loose. I presume the power flush did that. I’ve just shut them all off and will turn one on in a bit to test. Thanks -

Photo of lid off. There are no single lights for each circuit but when you turn a downstairs stat on one light flashes for a bit then goes on fully and pump starts. There are no lights on when only one stat upstairs calling for heat and downstairs still showing flow. when I turn a downstairs stat on the flow on that circuit does increase a bit ( per your previous point about flow rate being low). could the the flow rates under the actuators need tightening with an 8mm if showing flow when not being called for? the house sat empty for about a year after being built (hence why we think there might have been some deposits creating the need for a power flush per their recommendation). Perhaps they need to come and rebalance? -

Pics attached. All of these are down stairs manifold where no stats are calling for heat. pic of box also. Note black cables are coaxial for TV. thanks -

As I said. Working fine all winter and I know because I was doing lots of individual zone testing (ie just one zone on to test flow rate and heat output etc). All fine. one thing. The system is 1 to 2 years old and had a power flush three weeks ago (as we had some issue with certain loops not getting hot). It’s only after that it’s gone wrong ( and was warm for two weeks after power flush so not really on) -

It’s been working fine all winter. Why go wrong now? -

Hi all interesting problem. House/floor felt quite warm today but none of the downstairs stats were calling for heat. Checked upstairs and one stat in far bathroom was call for heat. Checked manifold upstairs and down stairs and noticed flow rates on all of them, hence the warmth. Turned off the one stat calling for heat. All then stopped. Turned one back on and all came on. I did a complete power off to reset but not joy as same again. thoughts welcome thanks

Thanks. How would that probe work with a copper pipe? Tape it to it?
-
That’s a pic of the downstairs manifold where no issues. I don’t know the answer on upstairs system, insulation etc. My next port of call will be the builder to find out. It isn’t screedes upstairs so presume spread plates? downstairs pump on 1 and upstairs on max 3. I’ll give it some time.

PeterW. See pic. Pump downstairs is after split of hot water from ASHP. Rest goes upstairs. Other large pile is return from both I think
-
Ok thanks. I’ll give it some time. I’ll get some of those thermometers to read the temps.
-
Onoff. Thanks. I think I’ll get some of them.
-
I turned stats off on the ones with no flow but turned on. All at between 1 and 3. There are nine loops and only 1 per room. 4 x bed. 3 x bathroom 1 x dressing room 1 x landing. I don’t have and IR thermometer unfortunately. Flow and return feel similar temps to the touch. ive opened both the bleed valves and a thin jet of water comes out on both. Do I need to leave open for longer and collect water? pic of current flow rates attached.

Upstairs manifold pics attached. Separate pump here. Flow rates between 1 and 3 for those that’ll ally are on. Some are off.

No difference

Peter. I have tried that. All the way down to just under one and difference. The upstairs loops were still getting flow rates even when down stairs pump was less than one
