  3. Hi, does anyone know a good place to get breathable paint? I found this: https://www.linseedpaint.com/collections/linseed-paint Just wondered if there were others on here renovating a traditional building and if you'd found a good paint? Thanks, Justin
  4. Hi, I have been looking for a sign wave inverter 24v to run the whole house, our use isn't that heavy. With storage heaters we are using 44 kwh per day average over the year. I won't run the storage heaters off the inverter! Just a few lights, computer, fridge freezer, washing machine and perhaps it might handle the electric cooker, though we have gas backup. I'm just having trouble finding a good one, so often the reviews are very variable. I spend what I need to in order to get a good one. Thanks for any ideas! Justin
  5. Thanks. I'll check it out. The rubber cover is split, I guess that won't help.
  6. Hi My cherry picker has a fault, it won't turn anti-clockwise. It's the fault of the control switch as it will work from the secondoary controls. Does anyone know what I would be looking for as to the nature of the switch fault? Thank you for any help. Justin

  8. Can the Hanson Hydrated Lime be used to make putty lime?

  10. Hi all I am restoring an old lime and stone church. I'm looking at Hanson Hydrated Lime which they say won't stick without concrete. I assume I can't add concrete to my lime mix? I have seen that rough sand may provide just as good a stick? Any help would be very much appricated. Thanks Justin
  11. It's in Lochcarron. The roof has nail sickness.
  12. Super info, thank you! I have a load of copper nails to do it with. The roof is 180 years old. This is what I'm working on:
  13. Hi all I am renovating my ballachulish slate roof. Will I be able to cut the slates with a hand cutter? Or should I splash out on a Malco TSNS1 Slate Cutting Turbo Shear? Thanks for any tips. Justin
  14. Yes, it looks like there are areas of repair where people have used various paints. I'll do a bit of convert rusting and painitng
  15. Yes, it looks like it. I did wirebrush and it looks good to treat underneath.
  16. The existing paint is lifting in places, I wasn't sure if to dispatch it or not, definate rust underneath. It's a sort of plasticy paint.
  17. Awesome, thank you
  18. I've noticed quite a bit of rust on the cherry picker, is there a recommended coating for it? Also, I thought of putting Corroseal rust converter on there first, is that generally a good move?
  19. Brilliant, thanks for the info.
  20. Not yet called. Been a bit upo to th the eyeballs. Not even used the C.P. as it's very windy here. I was thinking the joints maybe dry joints anyway. The manuals mention nothing about lubricating them, only the turntable. There are no bad noises from anything. It was clearly yellow once before blue. I'll have a closer look.
  21. All the joints are dry...
  22. Is it better just to grease everything in sight?
  23. Here's a better picture. Currently nothing has grease on but the turntable.
