  1. I’m thinking HiMacs for the work surfaces and some combination of ply, Valchromat and Fenix for the kitchen. The current kitchen has wood and it hasn’t aged well. We were thinking of porcelain tiles on the floor so that we can continue with the same surface outside (thicker outdoor tiles of course).
  2. Thanks for replying to my post. The heaviest element is 104kg, and it won’t clear the garage door on the pallet. Our drive way is sloping with no suitable place to store outside, but we do have (or will make!) room in the garage.
  3. Thank you Big Jimbo and Tonyshouse. It has been fun up to this point, I have really enjoyed going through things with our architect, and most of the big things are decided on. We are poised to go. I think if I had found this forum sooner I would have used it for some of the research. There is still time to change our minds on flooring and the kitchen materials, but the windows and most of the appliances have already been bought.
  4. We ordered windows and doors just before the Coronavirus crisis deepened. It wasn’t possible to delay, so now we have windows and doors arriving before the contractors are on site, meaning that we must move them from the roadside, up our sloping drive and into our garage to be stored until we are ready for them. There are 3 pallets of windows, but one set at least must come off the pallet to fit into the garage. A friend has offered his help together with his sons as I think it improbable that the task could be done while socially distancing. I am seeking advice as to the preparation we need to do and what tools and equipment will be needed to move the windows.
  5. Hello, I wish I had found this forum sooner, mind you when we planned our project I had no idea of questions to ask, and my most pressing question is only necessary because of disruption because of the COVID crisis. Our project is the remodelling of kitchen / dining room, no change to the footprint, but knocking through rooms, putting windows where doors are, and vice versa. Most things are decided on, and we have a builder ready to start once the lockdown is relaxed, providing that the steel fabricator reopens. I am so excited about how our home will be improved, even if it does take longer than usual. I will post my question in the relevant part of the forum soon.
