  1. The pin on the radiator control valve was indeed stuck! Fixed. Thanks
  2. I've had a couple of rooms which have had the rads turned off for over a year, as i dont use them. I've turned one of them back on, and it's not getting hot whatsoever. At first i thought i'd unbalanced the system, but i've turned off all the rads now except that one, and it's still totally cold. The pipework going into the TVR is warm up until about 10cm before it reaches the TVR valve. This seems like a blockage in the rad itself. Any thoughts?
  3. I have an existing soil stack which I can't get lead flashing behind. Any suggestions? See pic, the corrugated asbestos has now been replaced with slates, and I need to add flashing along the top.
  4. Yes it is asbestos, I didn't mention it to avoid the thread careering off track Someone is coming in next week to remove it.
  5. I have a small lean to roof which I'm removing the existing corrugated covering from. Next door it's slates which extend about a foot under the covering, so I assume that someone just added the corrugated covering at some point for whatever reason. When I put the new slates on, how should these be tied in with the neighbouring slates? Will it need a jointing gutter, or can I just continue the existing slates into the new ones (which are the same 500x250 size). See pic attached
  6. Hi, I'm in the process of buying a house, and the roof has several spots where I can see daylight (albeit small) which is allowing in water causing damp in a couple of upstairs bedrooms. The roof is slate but has no felt membrane. Will this likely need an entirely new roof, or can a membrane be fitted retrospectively and the loose tiles refitted? The house is a 3 bed semi. Many thanks
