Hi all,
I’m currently assessing options for a low-energy / airtight self-build and am looking at integrated systems such as the PKOM4 (MVHR with integrated heat pump for space heating/cooling and DHW).
There’s plenty of manufacturer and installer material available, but I’m finding very little UK-based post-occupancy feedback from owners, so I’m hoping someone here has direct experience.
If anyone on BuildHub has a PKOM4 installed in a UK home, I’d be very interested in hearing how it performs in practice, particularly:
Space heating performance
How well does it maintain internal temperatures in a typical UK winter?
Any reliance on backup heating?
Cooling / summer comfort
Does the system provide meaningful cooling, or is it closer to comfort tempering via supply air?
DHW performance
Capacity and recovery times in day-to-day use?
Running costs
Annual electricity consumption and seasonal performance?
Noise and usability
Internal noise levels (fans/compressor) and control interface?
Reliability and servicing
Faults, maintenance requirements, UK support and spares availability?
With hindsight
Would you specify it again, or opt for a more modular approach (separate MVHR + ASHP + cylinder)?
My main question is whether the integration and space saving genuinely justify the cost and complexity versus a conventional split system in the UK context.
Happy to hear from owners, designers, or installers with real-world experience.
Thanks in advance.
