  1. Is anyone able to advise please on the above. I'm converting my barn with full planning, contractor is used to dealing with 0% VAT with new builds but not the 5% with conversion. am I correct in that he should charge me 5% VAT on the majority of materials (I know there are some exceptions) and labour and then after completion I can look to claim a fair bit of this 0% back? the barn house is for me and the family fyi.
  2. Thanks both, I actually think my contractor has already said 200 so that all makes sense. - I assume it is 150mm insulation and then 50mm screed but I’ll check.
  3. Yes for all, nothing below the structural slab hence the need to insulate on top. We are about to break ground in March so full planning approved - I’ve made contact with Ian thanks for this. This has put me right off! Thanks for this… Thanks, I’ve DM you for more details.
  4. As title suggests, I’m after advice re polished concrete floors, the cost/practicalities and alternatives. project is a barn conversion, we’ve already got a 200mm structural slab which is 220m2 and have allowed for 150mm further flooring but this must include UFH, insulation etc. We would like something resembling polished concrete (mid shine) but are fully open to any other suggestions that don’t cost £100 m2 plus. My contractor is very practical but has limits. any help and advice would be appreciated
  5. Thanks, was that the Kingspan or the other brand?
  6. Which one did you use sorry? was your use recently residential? Do you have any photos or project updates? - thanks for your help.
  7. Contractor originally suggested Kingspan composite to sit onto op the pearlins but the architect doesn’t think it will pass build control due to lack of fire rating? I’ve since found an alternative supplier “JI Roof 1000” which looks pretty much the same but does have a rating. i note from others who’ve used it that it’s quite noisy and can be awkward to fit, we are keen on the inside look, we like the exposed pearlins and beams industrial finish. hoping for advice for any of you who may have used this recently?
